I learned so much about Italian cuisine

I really had fun and learned so much about Italian cuisine in the Cooking Class Positano. We received a warm welcome from our host Maria and her nephew Stefano, along with a glass of wine before we started cooking. Then we put on our aprons and joined them in the kitchen. They showed great patience in trying to teach us how to make traditional pasta and tiramisu. The atmosphere in the kitchen was cheerful with lots of laughs and lots of cooking tips. When everything was ready, we sat at a large table and enjoyed our meal. Thank you, Maria and Stefano, for wonderful memories!

If you’re in Positano don’t miss this cooking class!

My biggest discovery in the Cooking Class Positano was the way Italians prepare food together. I can't imagine this in my home country, where only one person cooks and doesn't want to be disturbed while they do it. Somehow, in Italy they all get along in the kitchen, telling jokes, sharing stories, and enjoying each other's company. I finally learned to make my own pasta, and I can't believe how easy it is, at least when someone teaches you how to do it. I've already done the math, and this means I'll be saving money in the long run. If you're in Positano, don't miss this cooking class!

DESCRIPTION

Cooking Class Positano

MEETING THE HOST AND OTHER PARTICIPANTS

As you arrive at the host's home, they'll offer you coffee or a glass of wine and begin by introducing themselves. The Cooking Class Positano is part of the Cesarine association, a community of local home cooks offering authentic culinary experiences and teaching new skills. The hosts are passionate about cooking, often with decades of experience, and some of them are professionals who work in restaurants. Either way, they will be happy to share their knowledge and teach you to make traditional pasta and tiramisu. Meet your fellow participants, put on an apron, and start learning a new skill!

MAKING TRADITIONAL PASTA FROM SCRATCH

Each Italian region boasts its own pasta varieties and local specialties, and Campania is no exception. Your instructor will teach you to make two different kinds of local pasta from scratch. During the Cooking Class Positano you'll be guided through the process, and shown how to use the right flour and the proper amounts of eggs, olive oil, salt, and water. After kneading the dough, you'll be taught how to roll it out into thin sheets and cut it into shapes. Later, you'll learn how to properly cook it and make pasta al dente.

LEARNING TO MAKE A DELICIOUS TIRAMISU

During the Cooking Class Positano, you will learn how to make a delicious tiramisu. Although many consider it a traditional Italian dessert, tiramisu is actually a modern invention. According to a popular legend, pastry chef Roberto Linguanotto accidentally dropped mascarpone into a bowl of eggs, which eventually inspired the creation of tiramisu. Trying to do something with it, as any professional chef would, he added ladyfinger biscuits soaked in coffee and presented a new dessert—tiramisu! Use the new skill you've learned in the Cooking Class Positano to impress your family and friends back home with a delicious tiramisu.

TAKE A SEAT AND "BUON APPETITO!"

After learning how to make traditional pasta and tiramisu, it is time to indulge in a delicious meal and dessert that you made with your own hands. In true Italian fashion, your host will offer you a glass of prosecco before you start eating. This aperitif is traditionally enjoyed before a meal and is believed to have health benefits, which is why Italians toast with a cheerful "Salute!" as they drink it. Now, take your seat at the table and enjoy your meal. "Buon Appetito!"

Cucinare Insieme - A tradition of the Italian cuisine

During the Cooking Class Positano, you'll learn how to make traditional pasta and tiramisu, but you’ll also partake in another Italian tradition - "Cucinare insieme", which means cooking together. Preparing food is a group activity among Italians, and as you might expect, it's more than just making a meal. It’s an opportunity to share stories, enjoy each other's company, and bond with family and friends. It’s also a chance to learn about Italian culture and cuisine in a way that's much more enriching than simply visiting museums and historical sites.
